5W Public Relations, an independently owned public relations firm based in New York, has launched a cannabidiol (CBD) specialty team that will work across areas including health and wellness, beauty, food and beverage, and consumer.
5W’s CBD specialty team will combine the capabilities of health and wellness practices with the expertise within the consumer brand space, as well as the strategic counsel of the beauty and food and beverage practice areas.
The team, currently working with several clients in the CBD space, is committed to devising innovative communications programs for clients within this emerging category, says 5W.
“The Farm Bill moves the U.S. out of a long history of hemp prohibition, removing hemp from the Controlled Substances Act will create tremendous opportunity for CBD brands to market and sell products. Analysts are predicting that hemp could grow into a $20 billion industry by 2022. There are tremendous public relations and marketing opportunities for companies in this space. We see the CBD market as a game-changer for many industries, and our newly created CBD specialty team will offer a unique value to clients within this emerging industry,” said Ronn Torossian, CEO of 5W.
Public relation services offered to CBD clients will include media relations, influencer relations, product launches, new market expansion campaigns, executive visibility programs, fundraising announcements, content creation, digital media campaigns and speaking opportunities.
“Our aim is to spearhead PR innovation by disrupting the industry with emerging sectors like CBD,” said Torossian. “There is a large effort needed to dispel myths and confusion surrounding CBD. Our team, with its capabilities and services, will be able to elevate clients beyond these obstacles and cement CBD at the helm of modern products for health and wellness, beauty, food and beverage and consumer overall.”
