BJ’s Wholesale Club Inc. has announced that Christopher H. Peterson, EVP, CFO, Newell Brands, has been named to the board of directors. He will serve as chair of the board’s Audit Committee.
The company also announced that Tommy Yin has left the board. Yin, an associate at Leonard Green, joined the board in 2017.
“We’re pleased to add Chris to our board and look forward to working with him moving forward,” said Christopher J. Baldwin, chairman and CEO. “His extensive experience in the consumer goods industry and leading transformation programs will be extremely valuable as we continue to transform BJ’s Wholesale Club.”
Prior to joining Newell Brands in 2018, Peterson was COO of operations at Revlon Inc., where he helped lead the brand’s global supply chain, finance and IT functions. Earlier in his career he was president of Global Brands at Ralph Lauren. Prior to that, Peterson spent 20 years at Procter & Gamble in various roles of increasing responsibility. He holds a bachelor’s degree in operations research and industrial engineering from Cornell University.
Headquartered in Westborough, Massachusetts, the company is the leading operator of membership warehouse clubs in the Eastern U.S. and currently operates 216 clubs and 137 gas locations in 16 states.
The club first introduced the warehouse club concept to the northeastern U.S. in 1984. Since then, it has expanded, moving north to Maine, south to Florida and as far west as Ohio.
In-club and online, the stores offer members products for home and business from groceries, cleaning supplies and health and beauty to home goods, computers, electronics and more.
