Giant Food Stores has opened its new Feasterville, Pennsylvania, store at 176 W. Street Road. Nearly 65 additional full and part-time jobs have been created, bringing the total number of Feasterville Giant associates to 205.
This store is part of a $70 million investment Giant announced earlier this year to grow its store network across Pennsylvania by constructing six new stores, remodeling two locations and opening five new fuel stations over the next two years.
The store replaces Giant’s former Feasterville store at 1055 Bustleton Pike. The new 66,000-s.f. store is approximately 25 percent larger than the original location.
As part of the celebration festivities, the first 200 customers in line received a free Philadelphia Phillies reusable shopping bag and a six-pack of Giant English muffins as well as other grand opening savings.
Tim Feoli, a 36-year grocery veteran, is store manager. The Feasterville Giant operates 6 a.m.-midnight, seven days a week.
The replacement store features an expanded market-fresh produce department with more organic selections, fresh-squeezed juices, in-store cut fruit and a full salad bar.
“Our produce department alone has over 350 fresh produce items, and we’ll be welcoming a new crop of local fruits and vegetables to showcase on day one,” said Feoli. “We’re super proud to partner with our local farmers, especially this time of year.”
The store carries local products from Pennsylvania and New Jersey farmers and producers such as Benedict’s Produce in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania; Buona Foods in Landenberg, Pennsylvania; Circle M Farms in Salem, New Jersey; Flaim Farms in Vineland, New Jersey; and Sterman Masser Potato Farms in Sacramento, Pennsylvania.
In addition, the store features Giant’s fresh departments including a full-service deli featuring a selection of grab-and-go meals with salads made on-site; a full-service meat and seafood department offering USDA Prime, Nature’s Promise meats and fresh fish with a variety of local offerings; a full-service bakery with artisan breads, cakes, donuts and other desserts as well as a full-service floral department with fresh-cut flowers and arrangements.
A Beer & Wine Eatery stocked with an selection of domestic, imported and craft beers—more than 400 in all—is featured at this location. Giant is partnering with 13 local breweries from Pennsylvania and New Jersey. The Beer & Wine Eatery showcases craft beers within the Mix-a-Six case, where customers are able to mix and match selections. Customers will also find at the eatery freshly-made fare including meal combos, sandwiches, wraps, subs, salads, sushi and a hot bar.
Feasterville customers now have the convenience of a full-service pharmacy with pharmacists available seven days a week to fill prescriptions and offer expert advice. The pharmacy provides customers a private consultation room where they can talk discreetly with their pharmacist about medication or receive an immunization.
A Starbucks-on-the-Go kiosk offers both hot and iced Starbucks beverages.
Shoppers also can order their groceries effortlessly online and have them delivered reliably through Peapod by Giant.
Five groups—Liberty PSO, Lower Southampton Twp. Fire Marshal’s office, Lower Southampton Twp. Police Dept., Neshaminy School District and St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church Food Pantry—all received a $1,000 donation from Giant in conjunction with the store opening.
Giant Food Stores LLC has more than 170 neighborhood stores serving Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia.
