Raley’s has completed the transition of five Scolari’s Food & Drug locations and one Sak ‘N Save store in the Reno, Nevada, area. Raley’s began to assume operations of the stores in late May, and all six locations were fully converted to Raley’s ownership on June 12. Each of the purchased stores closed for two days, reopening as Raley’s. This includes the Sak ‘N Save that is keeping its name but reopened under Raley’s leadership.

The stores have been remerchandised with what Raley’s says is its best fresh products, including enhanced offerings in fresh meat, produce and foodservice. Prepared food offerings range from rotisserie chicken and tri-tip, to Raley’s ready-to-go meals and in-house prepared salads. The stores also feature Raley’s line of handmade cakes, fresh fruit desserts and an expanded line of single-serve desserts. Raley’s also added its private label products to the shelves.

“Customers will see an immediate change in the product offerings at an affordable price,” said Keith Knopf, president of Raley’s, prior to the transition. “We believe customers will be impressed with Raley’s enhanced prepared food offerings with quality ingredients. We hope to gain their trust and loyalty as they try our offerings.”

Scolari’s Food & Drug employees were encouraged to apply for employment as Raley’s team members, and of those who applied, 95 percent were hired. In addition, four of the stores are managed by the same leadership.

Raley’s is encouraging customers new to its stores to advantage of the savings opportunities it offers, including:

  • The “Something Extra” program: Customers who sign up for Raley’s loyalty program in-store or online, will receive personalized offers. Customers also earn one point for every penny spent, and Raley’s returns it as a cash offer to be spent in store, every quarter.
  • $5 Monday: Every Monday, Raley’s has a variety of products on sale for $5.
  • Raley’s releases its weekly ads on Wednesday. This can be viewed in select areas via newspaper circular or online.

Each of the stores has a dedicated Facebook page for customers to keep up with new product offerings, store news and savings opportunities.
