Associated Food Stores of Salt Lake City, Utah, says it is determined to help their member retailers combat the post-holiday sales slump that many businesses feel. The grocery wholesaler is partnering with Procter & Gamble to sponsor “Marvel Universe Live!”, a superhero live-action show at the Vivint Smart Home Arena, Feb. 11-14.

As part of the sponsorship, participating retailers will be given exclusive deals and promotions from P&G to reward shoppers and drive sales during the start of the new year. Store guests will be encouraged to spend $25 on P&G products to enter to win various Marvel merchandise, including a Marvel blanket and tickets to the show, though no purchase is necessary to enter the drawings. Each retailer also will create in-store displays, social media campaigns and email announcements to alert shoppers of the promotion and giveaways.

Marvel Universe Live! features the Avengers, Spider-Man and other key Marvel characters in a live-action stunt show that focuses on defeating classic villains. Participating retailers will give a total of 150 Marvel Universe Live! tickets to shoppers in various ticket bundles through drawings and social giveaways during the promotion period.

“Because we are a co-op the success of our retailers is ultimately our success,” said Jason Sokol, director of marketing at Associated Food Stores. “We loved the idea of partnering with P&G for Marvel Universe Live! because it gives us an opportunity to bring something different and exciting to our shoppers that, like food, the whole family can enjoy.”
