The Western Union Co., a leader in financial services, has renewed an agreement with Safeway Inc., one of the largest food and drug retailers in North America.
Under the terms of the agreement, more than 1,640 Safeway store locations across the United States and Canada will continue to offer Western Union global money transfer services. Safeway also will introduce Western Union money order and consumer bill payment services in the U.S. in 2013.
“Providing customers with Western Union services allows Safeway to enhance customer loyalty and uncover new revenue opportunities,” said Hikmet Ersek, president and CEO of Western Union. “Adding consumer bill payment and money order services as part of the renewal agreement expands our relationship with Safeway and builds on our commitment to provide customers with a wide variety of options to manage their finances.
“Our international scale, coupled with a globally-recognized brand known for speed and reliability, is the foundation that customers rely upon.”
