Roche Family
Roche Bros. Supermarkets
Roche Bros. is like having several specialty stores within one store. The common denominators are freshness and quality products.
In recent years, Roche Bros. took prepared foods to new heights and built Creative Entertaining, where Roche Bros. becomes a personal party planner for home and offices. Lately, the company has had great success in home delivery.
Company founders Pat and Bud Roche opened their first store in 1952 in Roslindale, Mass., a community on the outskirts of Boston. The store first began as a meat and produce store. The company is now run by the second generation —Jay, Rick, and Ed Roche— as they bought into the future of Roche Bros./Sudbury Farms. (Jay since left the company and today the company is run by brothers Rick and Ed.) Gary Pfeil, a longtime supermarket executive, is the president of the company.
Roche Bros. is very involved in every community in which a store is located. The company is very involved in funding for schools, extracurricular school activities including PTA fundraisers, after-school activities, classroom projects, youth sports, libraries and area food banks. Roche Bros. is also an active supporter of Children’s Hospital and is also involved with donations to the Greater Boston Food Bank, the Roche Family Community Center in West Roxbury, local church/temple fundraisers, and the Council on Aging.
