ECRS has added a new weather functionality for DemandFill 3.0, the third-generation forecasting solution within the CATAPULT Cognition platform.
This machine learning artificial intelligence (AI) model integrates historical and forecasted weather data to analyze and anticipate shopper behavior, providing ECRS retailers with precise recommendations to meet future weather-driven demand.
The VP of purchasing at a three-store organic grocery chain noted: “DemandFill 3.0 functions like a seasoned employee, possessing all the institutional knowledge without the cognitive biases that typically influence our daily decision-making processes.”

Understanding that shopper behavior varies across regions, DemandFill 3.0’s AI engine tailors its recommendations to reflect the unique demands of each location and shopper base.
For instance, an ECRS retailer in Minnesota experiences different shopping patterns compared to one in Florida. The new weather integration ensures that the retailers buy what they need when their shoppers expect it.
Daniel Smith, analytics and reporting business unit manager at ECRS, emphasized the system’s capabilities. “With DemandFill 3.0, we are unlocking new insights by correlating weather patterns with demand, empowering businesses to forecast with unprecedented accuracy.”
