Butterball Launches Cook From Frozen Turkeys

Butterball Cook From Frozen turkey

Last updated on December 12th, 2024

Butterball has introduced its Cook from Frozen Premium Whole Turkey, a new offering for the Thanksgiving holiday.

Created with convenience in mind, the new Cook from Frozen turkey requires just two steps: unwrap and roast, with no thawing required.

The most popular questions received by the Butterball Turkey Talk-Line are about how and when to thaw a turkey. As a solution, Butterball’s Cook from Frozen requires no preparation; the turkey goes straight from the freezer to oven without days of thawing in the refrigerator. In addition, there are no neck or giblets to remove.

“Whether you are hosting Thanksgiving for the first time or the 15th time, preparing the turkey can be intimidating,” said Michelle Lieszkovszky, head of innovation at Butterball.

“That’s why we are so excited to introduce Cook from Frozen. It addresses both the fears and frustrations of cooking a whole turkey – it’s not only simple to roast, but the result delivers a tender, juicy, golden-brown centerpiece. Hosts get all the glory whether they are experienced or not.”

Rebecca Welch, director of retail marketing at Butterball, recently talked with The Shelby Report about the company’s new innovation in the category.

“This was a product that we had a pilot program on last year. We’re expanding it this year based on the success. It’s a new item. It’s a completely new approach to cooking a Thanksgiving meal. It’s incredibly simple. Shoppers just have to open the package and put their turkey on a cooking sheet, put it in the oven, and it cooks in five hours. Comes out tender, juicy and perfectly golden brown,” Welch said.

“And we’re really excited about it … We spend a lot of time talking to consumers about Thanksgiving and cooking their Thanksgiving turkeys and preparing their meals, and we know that it’s one of the most challenging parts of the meal. We’re always looking for ways to make it easier for them, and we’re really excited about how this Cook from Frozen turkey can make the whole experience easier.”

Lieszkovszky also noted that the convenience of Cook from Frozen turkey allows hosts to focus on spending quality time with family.

“At Butterball, inspiring togetherness is at the core of what we do. Cook from Frozen allows hosts to focus on other aspects of the celebration, like enjoying time with loved ones,” Lieszkovszky said. “This holiday season, let Butterball take care of the turkey while you make the memories.”

Like Welch mentioned, Cook from Frozen turkeys do not require basting, brining or seasoning. A specially-formulated brine ensures that the turkey remains moist throughout the roasting process, resulting in the same turkey with less steps.

Butterball Cook from Frozen Premium Whole Turkey is available at Harris Teeter, Lowes Foods and Publix stores. It can also be found at select Kroger and Kroger banner locations (such as Fred Meyer, Fry’s and Ralph’s), as well as some Walmart locations.
