Guinness World Record representatives named Central Market’s charcuterie board as “the largest charcuterie board in the world to be created and consumed” on Sept. 11.
In honor of Central Market’s 30th anniversary, the retailer attempted to break the record and did so with a 12-foot by 24-foot charcuterie board with 1,000 pounds of artisanal meats and cheeses, accompanied by crackers, fruits and nuts.
“We are beyond excited to celebrate Central Market’s 30 years, and what better way to mark this milestone anniversary than with a food-themed Guinness World Record,” said Paul Harty, general manager of the Central Market on North Lamar in Austin, Texas.
“Central Market has something for all foodies, and we look forward to continuing the anniversary celebration with a host of in-store events, foodie strolls for adults and kids, fantastic cooking classes and so much more.”
For the anniversary, Central Market invited guests to its first store to open in Austin and partake in the charcuterie board while enjoying drinks and live music on the patio. Central Market also held a $30,000 check presentation to the St. David’s Foundation, as well as a toast to 30 years.
The charcuterie board included 540 pounds of cured meats, such as Niman Ranch applewood-smoked ham, Levoni schiacciata piccante and Salami Napoli; 240 pounds of Manchego and triple-cream brie cheeses; 130 pounds of fruits, including Divina Castelvetrano olives; and 90 pounds of Divina fig spread and Janet’s Finest mixed berry jalapeño compote.
Central Market will continue the 30th anniversary celebrations through Sept. 24 with a series of in-store events, foodie strolls and cooking classes.
