Stater Bros. Charities, the charitable arm of Stater Bros. Markets, presented a check on June 25 for $906,527 to the City of Hope, representing the donations from its 12-day Kids 4 Hope fundraising campaign.
From May 1-12, Stater Bros. Markets locations jointly collected more than $900,000 in donations from customers and employees to support childhood cancer treatment and education programs at City of Hope. Customers donated by purchasing $1 and $5 mobiles during checkout.
The check presentation event was held at Stater Bros.’ Falcon Ridge store in Fontana, California, in recognition of that location’s status as the chain’s top fundraiser this year. Led by Store Manager Israel Martinez and Assistant Store Manager Armando Gayton, it set a new single-store record of $37,501 during the campaign period. Representatives from City of Hope, Stater Bros. Charities and Stater Bros. Markets were present at the event.

“Cancer is a difficult diagnosis for anyone, but it can be particularly devastating to a child and their family,” said Nancy Negrette, chairman and president of Stater Bros. Charities.
“We are so proud to support the great work that City of Hope does for pediatric cancer treatment and their emphasis on addressing the long-term effects of childhood cancer. I’d like to also thank our generous customers, whose overwhelming generosity allows us to support City of Hope’s worthy mission.”
Kids 4 Hope funding ensures that affected children and their families can access services and resources that will help them throughout their cancer journey. Funds support pediatric cancer treatment and education programs at City of Hope, such as child life services, patient navigation, academic advocacy and transportation assistance.
This was the fourth year that Stater Bros. Markets and Stater Bros. Charities have supported Kids 4 Hope, and it resulted in the record donation amount. Over the lifetime of its participation in Kids 4 Hope, Stater Bros. Charities has donated $2.8 million to City of Hope.
