Fareway Stores broke ground April 2 on a site at 175th Street and Highway 71 in Spirit Lake, Iowa, that will become home to a new 21,000-square-foot store, replacing the grocer’s current location.
“The Spirit Lake Fareway has served the community with the best in customer service and quality since 1985. We are excited to reinvest in the community and provide a new store location, to continue to serve area residents,” said Fareway CEO Reynolds W. Cramer.
“We want to thank city staff and community leaders for helping make this project possible.”
The store will feature high quality meat, a full-service butcher counter and farm-fresh produce. It also will offer FastLanes, a self-service checkout option, and online shopping and curbside pickup options.
“Everyone associated with the city of Spirit Lake is excited to welcome Fareway’s new location and substantial reinvestment in our community,” said City Administrator Gregg Owens. “Fareway has been a cornerstone of Spirit Lake for a long time and has always lived up to its reputation for great customer service and the best of small-town values.
“Spirit Lake has seen significant and positive growth in the past several years and Fareway’s continuing commitment to the community is both an affirmation of that progress and a reflection of the regard residents have for its services.”
