Associated Grocers held its first employee cornhole event June 29 at its company headquarters in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
Over the last couple of months, employees have teamed up to play cornhole within their departments to form a bracket to play against other Associated Grocers’ winning departmental teams. Retail Operations’ Chris Ordoyne and Corey Hughes slid into first place with the winner’s trophy.
The company also had special guests, Cornhole League pros Ricky Cantin and Koby Costanza, for special segments of “Toss with a Pro,” where employees were able to head to the court and play amongst the pros.

Cantin, a veteran player, is excited to see where the sport is headed.
“I’m hoping it will be an Olympic sport soon,” Cantin said. “There is definitely a youth movement going on, with a lot of young people taking over, and I’m here for it.”
Johnsonville joined in, grilling three flavors of sausage: original, hot and spicy and cheddar beer bratwurst.
“We were honored when asked to assist in Associated Grocers’ employee July 4th cornhole event,” Traci Hedrick, retail business manager, Gulf Coast, said in a statement.
“We always pride ourselves in serving local communities and our loyal customers. The opportunity to foster this strong relationship with a growing customer like Associated Grocers is a testament to the company’s dedication to creating memorable moments and deepening connections with its members. We were honored to support the hard-working members that assist in growing the Johnsonville brand within the southern market.”
Associated Grocers’ family of brands also offered cupcakes, brownies and frosted cookies.
The company also shared, “Congratulations to additional winning teams: second place – Jacob Norton and Thomas Weaver, and third place: Chris Gaconi and Dan Chastant.”
