Spokane, Washington-based URM Stores has announced the retirement of Stan Hilbert, CFO, secretary and treasurer. He has served with the company since June 2016.
“It is with mixed emotions that we announce the retirement of Stan Hilbert,” the company said. “Stan has been an integral part of the leadership team of our company, whose commitment will always be valued and remembered.”
Hilbert, a certified public accountant and a chartered global management accountant, has implemented policy changes to URM that have help set a solid financial future for the company.
One of the contributions includes moving Rosauers Supermarkets’ annual earnings to the member-owner’s patronage pool. This reduces URM Stores’ annual tax liability and enables it to include these earnings in the annual patronage distribution to its member-owners.
Another major change Hilbert spearheaded was moving URM and its subsidiaries to a self-insured medical plan, which has impacted not only the company but the employees the plan supports. This switch allowed the company to save money and better control the subsidized premiums its employees benefit from.
Hilbert has been a strong proponent of education and community service, having served on the University of Idaho College of Business and Economics Advisory Board and as a director for Junior Achievement of Eastern Washington and North Idaho. He serves on the board for 2nd Harvest.
“I’d like to thank Stan for his invaluable leadership through solid long-term planning, a commitment to excellence and the significant value he brought URM as a company and to its membership,” said Ray Sprinkle.
Hilbert’s last day will be June 30. To overlap the transition period, URM will begin the search for his replacement immediately.
