The Western Association of Food Chains has elected John Bagan of Gelson’s Markets, Eric Stover of Cardenas Markets and Levi Wingo of Raley’s to its board of directors during the association’s Nov. 5 meeting in San Diego, California.
“We are excited to welcome these three influential industry leaders to the WAFC board of directors. John, Eric and Levi have consistently displayed their passion for education throughout their careers,” said Scott Drew, WAFC president and chairman, president of Smart & Final.
“We look forward to their contributions to our mission of advancing education and leadership in the food industry.”
Established in 1921, with grants in excess of $36.8 million, the WAFC is focused on providing educational opportunities for food industry employees. The Food Industry Management Program at the University of Southern California Marshall School of Business has been available to qualified industry participants for 64 years.
In 2000, the WAFC expanded its scope by working with community colleges throughout the Western U.S. to establish the “Retail Management Certificate Program.” The curriculum is available at 160 college/satellite locations and online nationally.
“I look forward to working with John, Eric and Levi. All three are very talented food industry executives,” said Patrick Posey, WAFC COO. “All three of them have uniquely different business experiences and have demonstrated great servant leadership throughout their careers. Their participation and ideas will be instrumental as we strategically move forward with WAFC.”
