As part of its 90th anniversary celebration, Bashas’ will present $50,000 to a charity as part of its Community Choice Charity Challenge. The winning charity will be announced during an event Sept. 23 at the Bashas’ store at McClintock and Warner in Tempe, Arizona.
Since mid-July, shoppers were able to cast votes for their favorite charities, drawing from a list of the 32 beneficiaries that Bashas’ has recognized as 2022 Charity of the Month organizations. Voting spanned four, two-week phases, during which members of the community could vote for the charity they believed to be most deserving of additional funds. A select number of nonprofits with the most votes advanced to the next phase.
The pool has been narrowed to just 10 charities, and Edward “Trey” Basha, president, will name the $50,000 winner during the gathering. Representatives from all 10 charities will be in attendance to learn who will receive the donation.
The 10 finalist charities vying for the top award in the Bashas’ Community Choice Charity Challenge are:
- Arizona Humane Society;
- Banner MD Anderson Cancer Center;
- C4 Foundation;
- Child Crisis Arizona;
- HonorHealth Foundation;
- Northern Arizona Healthcare;
- Ronald McDonald House Charities’ of Central and Northern Arizona and of Southern Arizona;
- The Salvation Army;
- Southwest Autism Research & Resource Center; and
- St. Vincent de Paul.
