Naperville, Illinois-based KeHE Distributors has been named as one of America’s Best Employers For Women in Forbes’ annual ranking.
Forbes teamed up with the market research company Statista to identify the companies that are supporting women inside and outside their workforces.
“We pride ourselves on serving to make lives better, and that starts with our employees,” said Jenn Ricks, EVP of human resources. “Through our civility code – listing empathy, trust, equality, and ownership as four key pillars – we demand all employees treat everyone with dignity and respect and address any incivility with courage.”
Surveying 50,000 Americans – 30,000 women and 20,000 men working for businesses with at least 1,000 employees – the list focused on several areas. Respondents were asked to rate their organization on criteria such as working conditions, diversity and if they would recommend their employer to others.
Statista additionally asked female respondents to rate their employers on factors such as parental leave, discrimination, pay equality and nominate organizations in industries outside their own. Executive and board-level representation was also factored into the score.
“Being an executive director of sales and a co-chairwoman on women empowered at KeHE, I can attest to the fact that this is an incredible place to work,” said Amber Mahin-Hammond. “Having relationships with the employees here, I have an inside look at our women’s sense of inclusion and belonging. It is wonderful to see the brand recognized for the dedication we put towards ensuring KeHE is the best place for women to work.”
KeHE offers four weeks of fully paid parental leave to bond with their child and provides a gender-neutral policy available to biological, adoptive and foster parents. It offers financial coverage for fertility medicine, pregnancy loss benefits and daycare discounts with a wide network of providers.
Additionally, KeHE offers an extensive reimbursement policy that includes shipping breastmilk for traveling mothers, lactation rooms, and various other family care benefits. The brand ensures equal opportunity for all employees and enforces an inclusive work environment throughout all departments.
