Madison, Wisconsin-based Certco has promoted Justyne Uribe to VP of category management and procurement.
“After the last two years of supply chain constraints and inflationary pressures unlike we’ve seen in recent history, it has become apparent that this piece of our business, Procurement and Category Management, requires alignment over center store and all perishable departments,” said Amy Niemetscheck, president and CEO.
Uribe has been in the grocery business since her teenage years and has held roles at retail and at wholesale organizations prior to her joining Certco in 2013. In her time with the company, she has held positions as a buyer and as the lead of its private brands, before taking the director position in 2020.
“She keeps the independent grocer front of mind in all her decisions and initiatives and follows the mission statement of our organization day in and day out. Her values align with Certco’s key values and by doing so has evolved into an amazing people leader,” Niemetscheck said.
“By having this piece of our business marching to the same beat, it will provide clarity and a clear expectation to our vendor and broker community. Our teams will negotiate and maintain the best cost of goods, promotions that are competitive and deliver product variety with dating that is unlike other wholesalers.”
Over the coming weeks, Uribe will gain oversight on the perishable team that includes the meat, deli and bakery departments. The company will be aligning personnel on that team into buyers, category managers, category analyst and backfilling a buyer assistant for the group.
