The Martin’s Super Market located at 575 E. Jackson Blvd. in downtown Elkhart, Indiana’s new River District development opened with a ribbon-cutting celebration on Wednesday, Oct. 7, at 10 a.m. Elkhart Mayor Rod Roberson was in attendance in addition to other members of the Elkhart River District planning committee and senior management from SpartanNash, the parent company of Martin’s Super Markets. The store replaces the original E. Jackson Blvd. Martin’s that opened in 1990.
“We are honored to have been a part of the planning and design phases of the re-imagined River District redevelopment project – and, we are grateful for our partnerships with the city of Elkhart and all the businesses involved,” said Amy Simeri-McClellan, senior VP of Martin’s Super Markets. “‘My Martin’s’” is a phrase we hear often from our customers. Every day over 3,000 Martin’s associates in the greater Michiana area proudly serve their friends and neighbors like family. This new store features services you have come to know and expect in our stores, in addition to a few new concepts. We look forward to the city of Elkhart making this ‘their Martin’s’ by utilizing the store amenities and Side Door Deli space for community needs and safe gatherings.”
New store features include Martin’s Signature Smokehouse BBQ in the Side Door Deli and Martin’s Grill in the service meat department, offering ready-to-grill options including pub burgers, sausage, chicken, lobster rolls, sandwiches and more. Martin’s Signature Bagels and store-made variety cream cheese will be one of many upgrades to the Bake Shoppe area.
The store also features Martin’s Groceries to Go online ordering with curbside pickup or delivery service and Rush Pick Up, offering curbside pickup of deli and Starbucks items. The Fresh Divide offers customers the opportunity to choose fresh produce, and staffers will slice or dice and portion those selections while they wait.
A larger and expanded Starbucks Coffee Kiosk and new Floral Shoppe are additional highlights as is the expanded Side Door Deli space featuring a Community Room that will be available for meetings and other gatherings. Self-checkout lanes are another new option for customers.
The store manager is Heather Schuh and the assistant store manager is Jeri Eby. Store hours are 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.
A special barbecue event will take place Oct. 13 from 5 to 7 p.m., featuring sampling of Martin’s Signature Smokehouse items. Customers also will have the opportunity to view the 2021 Dutchmen RV Aspen Trail camper being given away during the grand opening celebration. Customers will receive automatic contest entries with each $50 they spend at any Martin’s location Oct. 4-31. Details are available at martins-supermarkets.com/win-a-2021-dutchmen-rv. Friday, Oct. 16, will be “Food Truck Friday” at the store with a Buy One Lunch, Get One Free offer from the Martin’s Side Street Deli food truck. Martin’s management teams are requesting attendees to follow COVID-19 safe practices including social distancing and wearing masks inside the store.
In honor of the grand opening, Martin’s also will be contributing up to $15,000 to local organizations as part of its Elkhart Community Care Fund. The first contribution recipients were announced at the grand opening of the new store. Additional non-profits will be recognized throughout the month.
“We want to hear from Elkhart County organizations and learn about their best initiatives that help make the area a great place to live, learn, work and have fun,” said Simeri-McClellan.
