In an unprecedented move, Encino, California-based Gelson’s says all its markets, distribution centers and offices across the Southland will be closed on Black Friday, Nov. 27, as a gesture of appreciation to all its employees and associates for their outstanding commitment during the Covid-19 pandemic. Stores will also close early on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, Nov. 26.
“My sincere hope is that team members will use this time to take a well-deserved break with their family and friends,” said Gelson’s President and CEO Rob McDougall. “I felt this was especially necessary for this year. This is an acknowledgement of remarkable dedication and hard work during a most challenging time.”
Normal store hours will resume on Saturday, Nov. 28.
Gelson’s currently operates 27 full-service specialty grocery stores in Southern California. Each Gelson’s Market features the full amenities of a traditional supermarket, with the local flavor of a neighborhood market.
