Goya Foods is answering the calls for help from food banks and organizations as it prepares to distribute food to victims in the wake of Hurricane Laura.

“In our tradition of immediate response during emergency situations, we send out our help in the form of food and we send out our prayers and love for rebuilding,” said Bob Unanue, president of Goya. “We are and will always be a company of passionate people who care about helping people in need.”

This donation is part of Goya Gives, a global program committed to promoting the overall well-being of communities through social responsibility, environmental initiatives and company values.

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the company has been distributing an ongoing donation of millions of pounds of food to food banks across the nation, Puerto Rico and South America, as well as 20,000 protective masks to healthcare providers.

After Hurricane Maria, Goya donated more than 1 million pounds of food to the people of Puerto Rico.

Goya also has provided food donations to: the starving population of Venezuela during governmental unrest; residents of Haiti following the 2010 earthquake; the northeastern U.S. after Superstorm Sandy in 2012; and to survivors of Hurricanes Harvey, Isaac and Irene over the past decade.
