The Sprouts Healthy Communities Foundation and The Republic of Tea are continuing their partnership to support school garden programs. The Republic of Tea will donate $1 to the foundation for each Hibiscus Sangria Iced Tea and Blackberry Sage Iced Tea tin sold at Sprouts’ 350 locations across the country.
“Gardening experiences provide children with an understanding of where healthy food comes from, nurtures their love of nature and positively reinforces what students are learning in the classroom,” said Lyndsey Waugh, executive director of the Sprouts Healthy Communities Foundation. “The Republic of Tea and its team members are champions of our efforts to help empower children to make healthy food choices. We’re thrilled to be partnering to raise funds and awareness for hands-on youth education programs.”
The Republic of Tea has guaranteed a minimum donation of $30,000 as a part of this initiative and the Sprouts Healthy Communities Foundation will be using the funds to support multiple school garden partners, including the Garden School Foundation in Los Angeles. Last year, team members from The Republic of Tea and Sprouts volunteered side-by-side in San Francisco and Philadelphia, where they brought their commitment to this program to life by building garden beds and making site improvements to school and community gardens supported by the foundation.
“The Republic of Tea is honored to offer these two refreshingly delicious iced teas to support the Sprouts Healthy Communities Foundation,” said Kristina Tucker, minister of enlightenment at The Republic of Tea. “We are inspired by the mission of educating children about healthy food and helping to provide them with enriching experiences in community gardens across the country.”
Each recyclable tin holds eight large, unbleached tea pouches; portioned to steep a one-quart pitcher of healthy, premium iced tea at home.
Hibiscus Sangria Iced Tea ($5.99/tin) is inspired by the traditional Spanish sangria. This caffeine-free herbal blend infuses Nigerian hibiscus flowers with a bounty of fruit. The addition of ice and fresh fruit creates a ruby-hued, full-bodied tea.
Blackberry Sage Iced Tea ($5.99/tin) is a farmers market-inspired flavor that combines sun-ripened blackberries and fresh sage with the finest quality tea leaves. Sage provides a soothing herbal accent to subtly sweet and fragrant berries.
Phoenix, Arizona-based Sprouts Farmers Market covers 100 percent of the foundation’s operations, so shoppers are confident that the entirety of each donation will support the foundation’s youth nutrition education programs nationwide.
