Decatur, Alabama-based Gemstone Foods, a protein supplier, has appointed Jeff L. Power as president and chief operating officer, effective immediately.

Power returns to Gemstone from Fresh Foods Group where he was responsible for all operations, with more than 4,000 associates and 11 processing plants. With more than 30 years in the food and poultry industry, Power has held management positions with Pilgrim’s Pride, Tyson Foods and Draper Valley Farms (a Perdue Farms Inc. company). He holds a bachelor’s degree in chemistry with a minor in biology and psychology from Ouachita Baptist University.
Gemstone Foods LLC is a poultry processor with multiple plant operations specializing in custom processing and portioning, de-boning, IQF and packaging for some of the nation’s largest fast food chains and poultry suppliers. The company has plant operations in Decatur, Alabama, and Florence, Alabama, and a sales office in Flowood, Mississippi.
Its deboning processes are scalable to meet demand. Before packaging, each piece of breast meat is passed through an x-ray machine and tenders are visually inspected on a lighted belt to check once more that the product is ready for shipping. The company also offers a variety of standard and specialty fresh and frozen packaging options, including combos, bulk box, CVP and bagged.
