In conjunction with Allen Lund Co.‘s annual managers’ meeting and awards banquet, Bill Bess was the recipient of the inaugural Allen Lund Legacy Award. The award has been created to honor an Allen Lund Co. employee who exemplifies the unique leadership qualities and character of founder Allen Lund.
“I am very excited to announce the creation of the Allen Lund Legacy Award,” said Kathie Lund, wife of Allen. “I am so proud of all of our employees and I can say with confidence Allen would be, as well. After much reflection with the family, we created this award to continue Allen’s legacy and recognize a truly outstanding employee that exemplifies his qualities.”
Nominations were submitted by ALC employees, reviewed and the winner selected by the Lund family. Just prior to announcing the awardee, Kathie Lund stated, “I was so thrilled to read the many nominations we received. I am so proud to be part of this company and its wonderful people. One employee stood out above all the others, and I know Allen would be proud and happy with our selection.”
Bess, director of carrier development, was announced as the awardee for 2020.
“Being selected as the first recipient of the Allen Lund Legacy Award was truly an honor,” he said. “Allen was the most influential person in my life. It was his example as a businessman, a family man and a Christian that has guided most of my personal decisions over the last 35 years. He set the bar high and encouraged you to be the best that you could be.
“Receiving this award was an honor. I feel like this award belongs to all of the employees at ALC that work hard every day, to continue to build the Allen Lund Legacy. One of Allen’s last communications to the managers was to continue our Acts of Kindness mission of giving back to our local communities across America. With this award comes some pretty big shoes to fill but with the support of our over 500 employees, I consider Allen’s legacy in good hands. We’ve got this Allen,” Bess said.
