Northgate González Market, a family-owned, Latino-themed supermarket chain, is opening its newest store in Riverside, California. It commemorates the company’s ongoing commitment and expansion into new markets to serve local communities. The new Northgate Market will employ 224 associates, with 168 of the positions filled by residents of Riverside and its surrounding areas.
The new store will have a community room available for nonprofit organizations needing meeting space. Northgate Market plans to partner with community organizations to host diabetes classes, cooking classes, yoga classes and more. Additionally, the new store will include a medical clinic, Clinica Bienestar, where customers and local residents will be able to see a doctor for a wellness check and receive other medical services.
The population of Riverside County has changed over recent years and now has nearly 50 percent Hispanic residents. Northgate Market says it looks to offer local consumers a fresh, new, authentic shopping experience offering traditional Mexican food and ingredients sourced and imported from Mexico.
A VIP reception will be held for the new location on Tuesday, Nov. 19, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m., and the store’s grand opening has been set for Wednesday, Nov. 20 from 7 a.m. until 8 a.m. The Riverside Northgate González Market is located at 10391 Magnolia Avenue. Miguel González, co-president of the retailer and the Riverside mayor and city council members will be at the opening.
