For the third year in a row, the Association for Dressings & Sauces (ADS) awarded The Clorox Co. the Package of the Year Award. This year, the award was presented for the Hidden Valley Ranch Topping & Dressing Loop Package at the ADS Annual Meeting “Playing an Instrumental Role” held Oct. 5-7 at the JW Marriott Austin in Austin, Texas.

Hidden Valley“Hidden Valley Ranch has been on a mission to spread ranch love since 1954. Over the years, the love of ranch has grown from a salad dressing to a national obsession. We wanted to give people a way to enjoy as much Hidden Valley Ranch as humanly possible—while limiting waste. Our sleek, new glass HVR bottle gives you the same blast of ranch flavor you love in an eco-friendly material that can be used over and over again delivered directly to your doorstep,” said Dr. Ritu Mishra at The Clorox Co., who thanked her innovation team and Matthias Palm, research fellow, for spearheading this project.

“We are honored that the members of the association recognized the form and function of our innovation,” said Mishra. With 14 years at The Clorox Co., Mishra is Associate research fellow with a Ph.D. in Food Science from the University of Wisconsin, Madison.

The Package of the Year Award is presented by ADS to increase the awareness of packaging and to celebrate the accomplishments of the packaging industry for dressing, sauce and condiment-related packages. Nominations for the award were received and ADS members cast their votes for the package deemed most innovative at the ADS Technical Meeting, which was held in Louisville, Kentucky, April 28-30.

Founded in 1913, The Clorox Co. is based in Oakland, California, and manufactures a number of consumer brand names, including Hidden Valley Ranch dressings and sauces. Hidden Valley’s heritage began in 1954, when the original founders opened the Hidden Valley Guest Ranch, where guests enjoyed homemade buttermilk salad dressing, with a special blend of herbs and spices.

Founded in 1926, ADS is an international trade association of manufacturers of salad dressings, mayonnaise, condiment sauces and the suppliers to the industry.
