Big Y World Class Market Renovations Completed In Two Locations

Big Y Foods Inc., headquartered in Springfield, Massachusetts, has completed renovations at the New Milford, Connecticut, World Class Market at 1 Kent Road as well as the Guilford, Connecticut, World Class Market at 830 Boston Post Road.

The New Milford location renovation effort began in March and included major renovations in areas of the 52,672-s.f. store. The store is continuing its focus on supporting local community with partners like Kimberly Farms milk and fresh produce from New Milford; Goat Boys soaps from New Milford; Twin Pines Farms jams and jellies out of Litchfield County, Connecticut; Hummel Brothers Provisions from New Haven, Connecticut; and Lyman Orchards pies out of Middlefield, Connecticut. The sales floor features the Living Well Eating Smart section offering organic, natural and gluten-free products in grocery, health and beauty, dairy and frozen foods, freshly ground nut butters and bulk dry foods. A salad bar has been installed.

Store Director Brian Murtha will continue to manage this store, which is open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. every day. A grand re-opening event was held July 26.

The Guilford, Connecticut, World Class Market at 830 Boston Post Road renovation effort began in April and included major renovations in many areas of the 54,574-s.f. store.

This location also continues its focus on supporting local community with partners like Ridge Runner Soap from Harwinton, Connecticut; Angela’s Kitchen pasta sauce out of Cheshire, Connecticut; Candlewood Roasting Company coffee from Brookfield, Connecticut; and Southern Airs jams, sauces, dressings, and more out of Fairfield, Connecticut.

The new Starbucks coffee section includes K-cups, cold brew and espresso cups, and a new “Spice Shop” offers spices from The Nutmeg Spice Company of Terryville. The produce department has both local and organic items. New refrigerated and non-refrigerated beer cases have beer and craft beer, including a new six-foot “Mix a Six” cold beer section where shoppers can customize their own six-pack. The meat department has expanded with a new butcher shop.

Store Director John Damjanovich will continue to manage this store. The store is open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. every day. A Meet the Managers event was held July 26.
