The International Dairy Deli Bakery Association’s (IDDBA) 24th annual Cake Decorating Challenge is approaching. The event will take place during IDDBA 19 in Orlando, Florida, June 2-4. Contestants will compete in a three-day event where they craft and decorate a variety of specialty cakes ranging in size, theme and shape.
This challenge is open to supermarket decorators, and contestants will be chosen based on the quality of their submitted portfolio. They will receive an all-expense paid trip to Orlando for the competition. The deadline for IDDBA to receive the portfolio and entry form is Friday, Feb. 14, 2019.
“This is a can’t-miss event to gain recognition and experience in the industry,” says IDDBA.
This year’s expo drew a crowd of more than 10,000 people. Lindsay Anderson of Lunds & Byerlys in Minneapolis, Minnesota, took first place in the 23rd Annual Cake Decorating Challenge, filling an eight-foot bakery case with cakes, two custom “300th Anniversary of New Orleans” themed cakes, and a tiered wedding cake.
Interested decorators can read the guidelines and submit their entry form for the opportunity to compete.
