The Hershey Co. is introducing Simply 5 Syrup, a new, five-ingredient take on its classic that has no high-fructose corn syrup or artificial preservatives and flavors, and is made from non-GMO ingredients. It rolls out in May.

“People are looking for products that taste great and have ingredients that they recognize, know and trust,” said Kriston Ohm, senior brand manager for Hershey’s Syrups and Toppings. “Hershey’s Simply 5 Syrup is another way to share the sweetness and the memories that our iconic syrup evokes, with five simple ingredients and nothing else.”

Hershey’s Simply 5 Syrup is made with cocoa, water and natural flavor from real vanilla beans. Pure cane sugar and organic invert cane syrup, derived from sugar cane, give the syrup its sweetness and body; SRP $3.29.

The launch, according to Hershey, shows its continued commitment to simple ingredients. Since announcing the commitment in 2015, Hershey has transitioned more than 500 product SKUs, including the iconic Hershey’s Kisses Milk Chocolates and Hershey’s Milk Chocolate Bars. By scanning the SmartLabel, a QR code that appears on the bottle below the nutrition facts, people also will be able to instantly get detailed product information about Hershey’s Simply 5 Syrup, from ingredient and nutrition facts to allergens.

Hershey is tying the rollout to social media, asking people to (briefly) share what they are grateful for.

“In the hustle and bustle of everyday life, making time for traditions can seem daunting,” said Ohm. “We want to show people that it doesn’t have to be complicated, so we’re asking them to share a five word recount of what made their day sweet with #Simply5.”

  1. I saw Hersheys simply 5 syrup in Costco today when I ran in for coffee and toilet paper. I stopped buying hersheys syrup a few months ago (mostly) because of HFCS. I was so happy to see this product and threw it in my cart immediatly!!!! I was a bit disappointed when I got it home & saw “invert sugar” on the lable. I thought to myself is this the new name for HFCS??? I haven’t been able to find any information to make me throw the hersheys away but this invert sugar is definitely not made by nature. As for the taste ….. it’s a bit different from the classic syrup. I found it very sweet but not as Chocolaty.
