ShopRite LPGA Classic Donates $1.5M To Local Charities

ShopRite LPGA Charity Luncheon

The ShopRite LPGA Classic presented by Acer donated nearly $1.5 million to local organizations at its annual luncheon on June 7.

Held alongside the golf tournament, the luncheon recognizes “community champions” working to address hunger, support families and advance medical research.

“Our annual luncheon is a cherished tradition within the LPGA, and each year we look forward to honoring the organizations and advocates who contribute so much,” said Karen Meleta, chief communications officer for Wakefern Food Corp., the logistics and merchandising arm of ShopRite stores.

“Our ShopRite and Wakefern teams take great pride in our longstanding partnership with the LPGA tour. Over the last three decades, the ShopRite tournament has raised more than $40 million for charitable causes in the communities where our stores operate.”

Representatives from more than 50 organizations received grants at the Atlantic City event, including food banks, hospitals and educational programs. Special guests included Wakefern executives and representatives of beneficiary organizations.

“ShopRite and Wakefern’s support and generosity are vital to the success and impact of the LPGA, especially when it comes to giving back to the community, ” said Jeremy Friedman, media director for the ShopRite LPGA Classic. “We are incredibly proud to have them as our partners and the longest standing title sponsor on the LPGA Tour.”

The ShopRite LPGA Classic, held June 7-9, features 144 top-ranked players, including major champions and past ShopRite champions. As Atlantic City’s largest sporting event, the tournament attracts attendees from across the Northeast and generates more than $19 million in economic activity for the region.
