Blue Hill, Maine, Store Manager Hailed As Hannaford’s Best

Patrick Doak, who manages the Hannaford at 15 South St. in Blue Hill, Maine, has been named the grocer’s Store Manager of the Year.

Doak – selected from 187 Hannaford stores throughout Maine, New York, Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Vermont – has nearly 30 years of experience in retail, including six with Hannaford. He played a role in the opening of the Blue Hill store in May 2023 and led his team through an inaugural summer season under the Hannaford banner. 

Prior to taking the helm of the Blue Hill store, Doak served as store manager of Hannaford locations in Bucksport and Bar Harbor. 

“Receiving this honor is very meaningful to me,” Doak said. 

“It has been incredibly exciting to lead our Blue Hill store and I am deeply appreciative of the tremendous team of associates and business partners who contribute to our collective success each day.” 

Doak was noted for his exceptional leadership skills, outstanding customer-focused approach, thoughtful associate engagement, team-centric approach, community support and consistent track record of providing the best experience possible for employees and customers.

 “We are extremely pleased to celebrate Patrick with this award,” said Todd Bullen, Hannaford’s VP of retail operations. 

“We thank Patrick for his commitment to excellence, as well as our entire team of store managers for their dedication to demonstrating great leadership, integrity, care and so much more each day.” 

In addition, Hannaford recognized store managers within each of its 13 districts across its five-state market area. The district Store Managers of the Year include:

Eastern Division

  • District 1: Patrick Doak (Blue Hill, Maine)
  • District 2: Dory Gain (Skowhegan, Maine)
  • District 3: James Shive (Boothbay Harbor, Maine)
  • District 4: Ken Kirouac (Scarborough, Maine)
  • District 6: Ron Sullivan (Biddeford, Maine)
  • District 7: Suzanne Riel (Goffstown, New Hampshire)
  • District 19: Tim French (Franklin, New Hampshire)

Western Division

  • District 8: Roland Tessier (Essex, Vermont)
  • District 9: Joel Riley (Albany/Central Avenue, New York)
  • District 10: Steve Robyck (Rossi Way, New York)
  • District 18: Erica Perry (Kingston, New York)
  • District 20: Tony Giunta (Uxbridge, Massachusetts)
  • District 22: Tom McFall (Duanesburg, New York)

Each honoree is recognized for leadership and communication skills, work to motivate others and implement key change initiatives, as well as their ability to create a safe and open environment for associates and customers. They also are hailed for their ability to provide effective two-way feedback, tools and learning opportunities to ensure employee growth and development.
